A community interest company is aiming to inject new life into Sheffield’s shopping scene.

The collective, known as Common People, has teamed up with a vintage brand to set up a ‘pop-up’ shop in the city centre’s Division Street.

By giving local companies like clothing label Vulgar a three-week residency in the retail space it aims to reduce the number of empty shops and give wannabe entrepreneurs a helping hand as they start out.

Vulgar, owned by Amber Savage, aged 22, and Liam Smith, aged 24, previously did all its trading online but its new store will be open to shoppers from this week.

Liam added: “It’s great to have a space in such a dominant part of Sheffield city centre, which can be difficult for new businesses today.”
