SHEFFIELD’S Pomona pub is going posh - with a new look and a new name.
The Ecclesall Road watering hole is undergoing a £350,000 refurbishment which will create 30 new full and part-time jobs.
And when the The Pomona reopens on October 6 it will be known as The Ecclesall.
A contemporary new-look will include a coffee bar, a VIP food and drinking area, all-day food via a carvery and hot plate, and televised big screen sport.
The venue will offer themed food nights as well as live music nights, personal appearances and the introduction of the Ecclesall Comedy Club.
South Yorkshire-based Haywin Leisure and owners Punch are behind the plans.
Chris Windle, from Haywin, said: “The Ecclesall will still be very much a pub, but we are introducing many new features. The coffee shop will be open from 7am each day and there will be a VIP area for private parties or special events.”
“In recent years The Pomona has been regarded as a student pub. We hope that, as The Ecclesall, it will appeal to a wide range of people.”
