A SHEFFIELD MP started the spadework as the construction of a new medical centre started in the city.

David Blunkett took part in a sod-cutting ceremony as work began on the facility in Foxhill, in his Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough constituency.

The centre will offer GP surgeries and a pharmacy as well as meeting rooms for community groups, and similar facilities are also being built in Wincobank, Darnall and Norfolk Park.

The Labour MP said the medical centre will be ‘first class’, adding: “I know that local people will benefit in all sorts of ways.”
