Police probe into car crime
TWO cars were stolen and three others were broken into when they were parked overnight on neighbouring Renishaw streets.
They were targeted on Emmett Carr Lane overnight on Sunday August 29 into Monday August 30.
Thieves stole a blue Ford Fiesta, which was later recovered from Hollow Lane, Halfway, Sheffield.
A Skoda parked on Reynard Crescent was also broken into and moved around 400 yards before being abandoned by the offenders.
A Renault and Nissan parked on Emmett Carr Lane were broken into.
The Renault's ignition switch was tampered with, but thieves were unable to move the vehicle because it seized up.
The Nissan's glove box was searched but nothing was stolen.
Offenders also attempted to steal a Nissan left in the car park of Renishaw Miners' Welfare Club on Main Road.
The ignition barrel was ripped out leaving wires hanging from the steering column but the car was not moved.
An investigation is under way into the spate of thefts, which are being linked.
