Police cards lost or stolen
A TOTAL of 19 police warrant cards went missing in South Yorkshire last year, according to figures released under the Freedom of Information Act.
South Yorkshire Police says its officers had six stolen - and lost 12 - between March 2009 and April this year. A special constable also lost a card.
Warrant cards are issued to officers as proof of identity, and to show when they arrest people or enter properties as proof of their authority.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The force takes the issue of lost or stolen warrant cards seriously."
