POLICE in Derbyshire are using the festive season to warn motorists that drinking and driving costs lives.
The force is also urging people to call Crimestoppers with details of drivers getting behind the wheel after a drink.
Chief Inspector Steve Wilson, head of roads policing in Derbyshire, said: “Drink driving wrecks lives. Please call police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you see someone getting behind the wheel after drinking.
“People planning to drive after they have been drinking should think twice. Anyone in the pub or club could report them.”
Last December, 656 drivers were breathalysed and 115 gave a positive test, refused to take the test or the driver failed to provide a sample.
Drivers using drugs will also be targeted.
