Police are warning 4x4 owners to protect their vehicles after two thefts.

Two Land Rover Defenders have been stolen in Killamarsh and Glapwell since the start of December.

The first was between 6.45am and 8am on Friday, December 7, off Field Lane in Killamarsh, and the second at 4.20am on Tuesday, December 18, in Glapwell.

Owners are advised to use a garage if they have one or to park in a well-lit area. Drivers are also reminded to make sure vehicles are locked and valuables removed.

PC Niki Atkinson, Crime Reduction Officer for North East Derbyshire said: “We still have a number of forensic based security marking kits available, which can be painted on to parts of a 4x4.

“This gives an added level of security which may help deter thieves but also makes it easier for the police to detect stolen vehicles, parts and property.”

n Anyone with information contact police on 101. For a security marking kit contact PC Atkinson on 101.
