DELIVERY drivers are being urged to step up their security to avoid giving thieves an easy ride – after a car full of packages and parcels was stolen from Killamarsh.

The vehicle – a Ford Focus car, which has not yet been traced by police – was stolen after its driver, a delivery worker, dropped off a package at a nearby address, leaving the keys in the vehicle.

Police officers are now urging motorists to lock up their cars and vans, even if they are leaving them for only a few minutes.

Inspector Michelle Shooter warned drivers: “It takes only a few seconds to steal a vehicle so take the keys out of the ignition and lock up.”

n Anyone with information about the theft at 11.30am on Friday, November 11, should call Derbyshire Police on 101.

Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555111.
