Off-road bikes were seized in a crackdown on those causing a nuisance in Sheffield's parks and open spaces.

The blitz was organised by local policing teams in the south east and east of the city following complains from residents.

Inspector Jason Booth said: "We tried to ensure Sunday remained undisturbed by the off-road bikers who regularly cause a nuisance at weekends, not to mention damaging our parks and open spaces.

"We receive regular calls about this problem including reports of these riders putting the safety of others using these open spaces and parks, including young kids, at risk.

"We have more operations planned for the future."

Four bikes were seized and officers followed up complaints at Hackenthorpe, Basegreen, Woodhouse, Intake, Handsworth, Woodthorpe, Stradbroke and Manor.
