Police rule out foul play in death of man found in Sheffield canal after Christmas party

Police have today confirmed that the body pulled out of a Sheffield canal was that of a man who went missing on a Christmas night out.

Adam Miles, aged 20, from Killamarsh, had been at his office Christmas party at he Hilton Hotel, Victoria Quays when he vanished.

His body was discovered by police divers on Monday.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that the body of a man found in a river in Sheffield earlier this week has been formally identified as Adam Miles.

“Adam, 20, went missing after his office Christmas party at a hotel in Sheffield city centre on Saturday, December 12.

“His family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
