Police resources 'tested to the limit' during night of crime in Sheffield city centre

Police resources were 'tested to the limit' in Sheffield city centre last night after officers were called out to a high volume of incidents.

A spokesman from the Sheffield Central Local Policing Team said: "Last night was extremely busy with resources tested to the limit."

They added that officers were called out to the following incidents:

- 1 male arrested for two counts of assault

- 1 female arrested for possessing a bladed article and criminal damage

- 1 male arrested for affray

- 1 male arrested for drunk and disorderly

- 1 male arrested for breaching a dispersal notice

- 1 male arrested for dangerous driving and drink driving

- 1 male arrested for possession of offensive weapon

- 1 male arrested for drink driving

- 1 female arrested for criminal damage.

The spokesman added: "Although this is unusual, must have been one of those nights."
