Detectives investigating a sex attack in Sheffield have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace.

A woman in her 40s was attacked as she walked her dog in fields off Grange Lane, Handsworth, at 11.10am on Monday, May 2.

The culprit has not yet been tracked down.

He ran off from the area towards some nearby woods after being disturbed by a member of the public, who was walking nearby.

Detectives believe the man in the CCTV image could hold vital information about the incident.

PC Sarah Thorne, the investigating officer, said: “This was a highly traumatic incident for the victim and we are continuing to follow up a number of lines of enquiry.

“I would like to ask members of the public if they recognise the man in these images.

"We believe he could have vital information, which would assist with the investigation.

“I would also ask people to cast their minds back to that morning. It was a Bank Holiday and many people were out enjoying the warmer weather that day. Did you see anything suspicious?"

Anyone with information about the incident or the man in the CCTV image should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 439 of May 2
