Police want to trace two men who went on a wrecking spree on a Sheffield street.

They were spotted smashing the window of a Toyota Yaris in Woodthorpe Road, Woodthorpe, and attempting to set the vehicle on fire.

The men then smashed a number of windows on a number of other vehicles as they fled.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Officers are currently investigating a number of criminal damage incidents which occurred on Woodthorpe Road at 10pm on Wednesday last week.

"Witnesses reported seeing two moped-scooter type vehicles on the road at this time.

"One of the male riders was then seen to smash the window of a Toyota Yaris and attempt to set the vehicle on fire. Fortunately, this attempt failed and the fire service were on the scene in a matter of minutes.

"The offenders were then seen to smash the windows on a number of other vehicles on the street as they fled."
