Police officers want residents in a village close to Sheffield to report suspicious activity following four burglaries in a month.

The first happened overnight on Friday, July 22 after the keys to two cars were stolen from the house they were parked outside in Eckington Road.

Between Thursday, August 4 and Sunday, August 14 a house in Drury Lane was broken into and a set of car keys and a tablet computer were stolen.

Overnight on Friday, August 5 a house in Cunliffe Street was broken into but nothing was taken and overnight on Tuesday, August 16 a house in Firthwood Road was burgled and a car was stolen.

Detective Constable Damian Lowe said: “It’s very unusual to have so many crimes in Coal Aston so I’m hoping local people may have seen suspicious activity in the area during the last few weeks.

“To reduce the likelihood of being burgled please consider the use of timers on lights within your house.”
