Police with sniffer dogs yesterday hunted for clues after a man was stabbed in the chest in Sheffield.

The 34-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries after suffering a suspected stab wound to his chest and cuts to his face in the incident in a house in Firth Park just before 5.15pm on Monday.

Scenes of crime officers were examining the house and garden on Horninglow Road, off Tideswell Road, yesterday.

A police spokesman said: “It is believed an assault took place inside a house on Horninglow Road and the altercation continued on the street.

“Officers were at the scene and inquiries are ongoing.”

The man’s condition was described as serious but not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made.
