POLICE investigating the attempted murder of a South Yorkshire dad who was gunned down on his doorstep have arrested a second man.
Tyrone Woodhead, aged 42, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital following the attack at his home in Wath on the night of September 20.
South Yorkshire Police said they had arrested a 29-year-old Thurnscoe man in Southport, Merseyside on Thursday night. He is currently in police custody.
Nathan Woodhead has been charged with attempted murder, robbery and aggravated burglary and appeared at Rotherham Magistrates Court.
He was remanded in custody and he is now scheduled to appear at Sheffield Crown Court.
The allegations against Woodhead relate to three separate incidents, the attempted murder, a separate robbery in Wath on September 20 and an aggravated burglary in Bentley, Doncaster, on September 12.
Delivery driver Mr Woodhead, of Doncaster Road, Wath, was honoured for his bravery in 2007 for risking his own life to help a screaming woman while she was being attacked by a knife-wielding former boyfriend.
He is married with a young daughter.
