Doncaster motorists are being warned about thieves breaking into cars for cash and valuables left on display.
South Yorkshire Police said there has been 'an unusually high' number of thefts reported across the town, with vehicles targeted for valuables and cash left on display.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We are experiencing an unusually high number of vehicles being attacked and property stolen from within.
"There is no particular location that is being targeted, as they are happening across Doncaster.
"The link is that on many occasions, property has been left on display inside the vehicle. Please ensure that when you leave your vehicle that you remove valuable items. If necessary even open the glove box to show that there is nothing placed in there.
"On one occasion, a small amount of loose change was stolen from the centre console. Opportunist thieves are breaking into cars if something is left on display."
Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
