Caravan owners are being urged to step up their security following a spate of thefts.

Between August and October, 17 caravans were stolen, many from storage facilities on farms in Derbyshire.

Detective Constable Paul Hackett said: “As the caravanning season has now come to an end we are reminding people who own touring caravans to ensure they are properly secured and steps are taken to help to prevent thefts.

“It is important to make sure you do all you can to protect the security of your caravan.”
