FOOTBALL sessions run by police officers in Dronfield may continue after they proved popular with local youngsters over the summer.
Officers set up the sessions to keep young people entertained and out of trouble, and around 20 youngsters attended each session at Gosforth Fields every Friday afternoon.
Talks are now underway to extend the project.
PC Mick Waller said: “The project was initially set up in response to community concerns about youngsters gathering in the area and causing a nuisance. Officers spoke to some of the groups while on patrol and many of the youngsters said they wanted to play football.”
