A FUGITIVE criminal believed to responsible for committing a spate of serious violent crimes after his early release from prison is being hunted by police.

Jamie Webb, aged 23, was let out of jail on licence last summer part-way through a five-year sentence for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is originally from East Herringthorpe, Rotherham, and was supposed to be living at an address in Sunnyside as a condition of his release.

But police said he has never stayed there and has absconded, not keeping in touch with probation officers.

He is wanted in connection with a robbery, aggravated burglary, causing grievous bodily harm and vehicle offences.

Det Insp Lea Jackson said: “Webb is aware officers are looking for him and we are asking for members of the public to help locate him.

“When he is found, he will be arrested and returned to prison. Anyone found to have helped him in eluding the police will be committing a criminal offence.”

Webb is muscular, 6ft with short, brown hair. Call 0114 2202020 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
