POSTERS are being handed out by police to discourage unwanted trick or treaters from calling at homes.
The posters are designed to be displayed on doors and in windows of homes in Derbyshire where residents do not want strangers calling.
Officers are also giving out posters to shopkeepers telling customers that eggs and flour will not be sold to anyone under the age of 16 - in a bid to reduce attacks on people and homes.
The posters are part of a plan to target the annual trend of increased calls about anti-social behaviour around Halloween and Bonfire Night.
Police said extra officers will also be on duty and large groups of youngsters will be split up if they are found to be causing a nuisance.
The posters can be downloads from the force website by visiting www.derbyshire.police.uk, or call 101.
