Police officers spent time looking for cars at risk of break-ins when shoppers were at a Chesterfield supermarket.

They looked for vehicles left unlocked or with windows down or valuables on display.

The officers also gave crime prevention advice to shoppers at Morrison’s on Chatsworth Road and handed out purse chains to try to prevent thefts.

PCSO Kirsty Handby said: “We had the chance to speak with many local residents and raise awareness of how to stay safe.”
