A police chase which ended in Rotherham led to the discovery of a weapon in a car.
Officers from Nottinghamshire Police started the pursuit and were helped by colleagues from South Yorkshire when the car crossed the border into Rotherham.
They stopped the car in Dinnington and after arresting a man at the scene found a weapon in the car.
No other details have yet been released.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Overnight we have been working with Nottinghamshire Police after they had a motor vehicle fail to stop in their area and the driver had tried to damage police vehicles with his car.
"The vehicle travelled into the Dinnington area and both police forces worked successfully together to find the vehicle and safely detain the driver who was in possession of a weapon."
