POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after two quad bikes crashed - leaving one rider seriously injured.

The bikes were travelling along the A57 Worksop Road towards the M1, when they collided close to Lindrick Golf Club at 4.15pm on Friday.

A blue Yamaha was travelling behind a yellow Suzuki when the bike in front lost power and slowed down, causing the Yamaha to take evasive action. Police said there was a glancing blow between the bikes and the Yamaha left the road, crossed a grass verge and struck a tree.

The Yamaha rider, a man in his mid-40s from the Gateford area of Worksop, suffered broken ribs and was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.

The Suzuki rider, a 38-year-old man from New Rossington, Doncaster, was taken to Rotherham Hospital with cuts.
