Speed checks in a Rotherham village identified 16 motorists breaking the limit in a one hour period.

Police officers and residents involved in the Todwick Community Speedwatch scheme used speed detectors on Kiveton Lane, where the limit is 30mph.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “During the hour that we were there a total number of 16 motorists exceeded the 30 MPH speed limit.

“These motorists shall be contacted in due course and we shall definitely be returning to the village.

“It’s 30 for a reason.”
