Residents are being urged to ‘pay attention’ to road signs and not park cars in the way of roadworks.
The Streets Ahead team, which is upgrading Sheffield’s roads and pavements, made the appeal as summer is a busy time for road resurfacing. Heavy rain has delayed some areas of work this year.
Graeme Symonds, Network Director for Streets Ahead, said: “Unfortunately it is also a time when many people are away for their holidays.
“Last summer, work on some streets had to be delayed because of the large numbers of parked cars so I would like to appeal to residents across Sheffield to be aware of when road works are scheduled for their areas and plan accordingly.”
Streets Ahead says it does ‘all it can’ to keep residents informed of roadworks but cars can be towed as a ‘last resort’.
