RESIDENTS on a Sheffield housing estate are complaining about cuts to bus services and lack of low floor vehicles.
People in Chancet Wood, Greenhill, have appealed to First, which runs the number 39 service through the estate, to make improvements.
One woman said: “We only had one bus an hour but it was reduced to just six a day between 9am and 2pm. We have no transport in the late afternoons, evenings, or on Saturdays or Sundays.
“We have also been given the oldest double-decker buses they have, when most people on the estate are elderly and find it difficult getting on and off buses with steps.”
A First South Yorkshire spokesman said: “We are currently looking into the possibility of putting some low floor buses onto service 39 and are hopeful of reporting back positively to the local community in the next few months.
“It is currently not economically viable to run later services on the number 39 because the number of passengers who use the service is not sufficient to justify a change.”
