A college academy launched by a celebrity entrepreneur is appealing for Sheffield businesses to support its courses.

The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, based at Sheffield City College, was set up by Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones and delivers further education courses in enterprise and entrepreneurship.

Sheffield companies of any size can take students on placements, assign project and help give them valuable business experience.

Graeme Tidd, business enterprise manager at the academy, said: “The support of the local business community is fundamental to the success of our courses.

“Without local entrepreneurs to encourage, enthuse and engage the students, our offering would be very similar to that of other colleges.

“The business owners bring the courses to life and help to equip the students with valuable entrepreneurship and career development skills.”

Lime Associates, a specialist medical purchasing and supply chain consultancy, has supported the academy’s business surgeries.

Lee Robinson, purchasing director, said: “It’s rewarding to work with students who are hungry to learn and driven.”
