AT least 800 new foster families are needed across the region this year according to figures from the Fostering Network.
On any one day, there are now a record 7,500 children living with foster families in Yorkshire and Humberside, with many more coming in and out of care throughout the year.
More foster families are needed to replace the 13 per cent of the carers who retire or leave every year.
Robert Tapsfield, chief executive of the Fostering Network, urged families to come forward.
He said: “Despite fostering services attracting more people to become foster carers, the continuing rise of children coming into care means hundreds more are still needed.”
