A CHILDREN’S charity is leading a call for nominations for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service - the MBE for volunteer groups.
Dinnington-based Safe@Last, which won the award in 2009, is appealing for people to nominate other voluntary groups before the September 30 deadline.
The charity, which works with vulnerable young people who are at risk through running away from home or care, said winning the award had helped to raise its profile and boost volunteer recruitment.
The Queen’s Award is part of the UK National Honours system, was created by the Her Majesty to mark her Golden Jubilee in 2002.
The scheme aims to recognise the ‘outstanding contributions’ made to local communities by groups of volunteers across the country.
Next year is the award’s 10th anniversary and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.
