A MOLECULAR biologist who switched careers to launch a play centre is in the running for a top award.
Sipra Deb, founder of The Play Arena in Heeley, is on the shortlist for the 2013 Asian Women of Achievement Awards.
She created the business 18 months ago and it has been hailed as ‘Sheffield’s largest and most innovative indoor play centre’.
Sipra is also involved in supporting several small ventures run by ethnic minorities and by women.
The awards recognise the varied contribution of Asian women to Britain’s economy and society.
Surgeons and engineers have also been nominated for the awards.
Sipra will find out whether she has won at the final ceremony on May 15 in London.
