RESIDENTS of a Barnsley village have voiced opposition to proposals for a wind turbine on a local farm.
Members of Thurgoland Parish Council have outlined their concerns over plans for a 36.4m-high structure in Rag Lane to Barnsley Council.
The threat to road safety has been highlighted as the main issue and councillors say the turbine will be a distraction to traffic on the nearby main trunk road.
Parish councillors also believe it threatens the landscape of the village and could cause noise problems for those living nearby.
A spokesman for Thurgoland Parish Council said: “Single wind turbines at farms or homes have not previously been a problem but this proposed turbine is much larger which is why there has been so much concern.”
