MOTORISTS face traffic disruption when work to improve the quality of water in an area of Sheffield gets under way.
A clean-up operation on a large water pipe which runs near Stocksbridge bypass and through the town centre will get under way on Monday.
The work comes after residents experienced a number of discolouration problems in May.
Yorkshire Water has appointed contractors from Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions to carry out the project, which will involve large excavations, about 400 metres apart, in Manchester Road.
A second main will be thoroughly cleaned at the same time. The firm said temporary traffic lights will be used during the nine months it will take to complete the work.
