The twinkling display included something a little different this year with a fantastic light projection on the Corn Exchange which wowed the crowds that turned out in force.

And those that attended the switch on were in capable hands as one of the staff members who rigged up the lights has also had responsibility for the Mamma Mia world tour, and has also worked at Old Trafford football stadium in Manchester and the O2 Arena.

Attractions throughout the evening included a fun fair in the Market Square and a live perfomance from GP Princess Appearances with ‘The long haired tower princess and her prince’.

Along with all this, players from Doncaster Rovers, the newly-promoted Belles and Knights went along to meet fans and sign autographs.

And of course, Christmas isn’t the same without an appearance from Santa who greeted children in his grotto.

Once the town was all lit up there was a parade led by Edlington Lions.

A range of market stalls were selling seasonal treats in the town centre for those early Christmas shoppers to snap up.
