CAMPAIGNERS hoping to reinstate passenger trains between Sheffield and Stocksbridge are collecting signatures on an e-petition.
Don Valley Railway – a campaign group which is hoping to run services on the line – is hoping for funding from South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.
The petition – at http://tinyurl.com/8dp5dbq – currently has just under 300 signatures.
A spokesman for Don Valley Railway said: “We aim to create a high-quality, environmentally-friendly link that will relieve congestion, act as a catalyst to invigorate the economy and raise the quality of life for the future development of the Upper Don Valley.
“The project will create a template for other community rail projects.”
