Peter Andre at Sheffield City Hall - REVIEW
PETER Andre has the British public eating out of the palm of his hand.
Ever since his split from glamour model Katie Price (aka Jordan) he can seemingly do no wrong. And he was on winning form again last night at City Hall in Sheffield, milking the moment for all it was worth.
WIN VIP BOX: See Peter Andre's return to Sheffield Arena, on December 18, 2010.
The gig was a preview of what is to come on his national arenas tour this winter - Andre will be playing Sheffield Arena on Saturday December 18.
Those unfamiliar with Andre's new material may remember him only as the greasy-haired lothario of the 1990s responsible for hits Flava, I Feel You and Mysterious Girl.
But whilst the Aussie pop star has certainly developed in terms of musical maturity, the lacquered hair and oiled biceps still remain.
Songs such as Behind Closed Doors, which peaked at number four in the UK download chart last year, were instantly recognised by die-hard Andre fans.
Yet it was the oldies which really got the overwhelmingly female crowd going.
That said, the Peter Andre publicity machine has been working overtime in the past year, and his pubic relations team have clearly not neglected his musical productions.
Images of Andre's children playing with their father, set to slushy ballads, seemed to shout: 'Love me, I'm a great dad'.
And the show's opening scene of Andre pretending to kick his dancers - dressed as the paparazzi - was an obvious attack on the tabloid media who follow the every move of Andre and his ex.
But with his winning combination of good looks , soft singing voice, and unashamed love for his enduring fans, Andre doesn't really need an unpopular ex to boost his ratings any more.
Enemies of gossip magazines be warned - Peter Andre is here to stay.
