Pervert 'could not stop looking' at sick pictures of abused kids

A PERVERT downloaded thousands of images and films of the rape and abuse of children - then kept a sick scrapbook of pictures of his own head cut out and glued on to their bodies.

Christopher Lennighan, aged 31, told police he made the weird book for his own "entertainment" and because he found the images "attractive".

He also pasted photographs of the faces of young celebrities - and former schoolfriends - on to the child porn pictures.

Sheffield Crown Court heard officers raided his address on Holme Close, Hillsborough, on April 21, where Lennighan told them he could not stop looking at child pornography.

He said he had looked at it almost every day for up to two hours since first connecting to the internet and paying for child porn six years ago.

Prosecutor Desmond Rosario said Lennighan, a retail manager, would pay $79.99 a month to an American website. The police raid came after a tip-off from the American authorities.

As well as the scrapbook, police found 2,286 photographs and 346 films on a laptop, a desktop computer and 10 CDs, the court heard. Nine of the movies were in the most serious grade five category.

Lennighan pleaded guilty to downloading indecent images of children. Andrew Smith, defending, said Lennighan was "thoroughly disgusted" with himself and anxious to get over his problem.

Judge Graham Robinson sentenced him to a three-year community supervision order which included a rehabilitation course for sex offenders.

He also imposed a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention order which gives police permission to search his house and computer without warning. Lennighan must also sign the Sex Offenders' Register and stay on it for five years.
