Three people were trapped last night after a serious accident at a notorious Sheffield junction.
The Skoda and Vauxhall collided at the junction of Castlebeck Drive, Harborough Avenue, Hastilar Road and Woodrove Avenue in Woodthorpe.
Crews from three Sheffield stations - Parkway, Central and Birley Moore - were called to the scene.
They took the roof off the Skoda and freed a person trapped in the Vauxhall.
Watch manager Wayne Harland, from Sheffield Parkway station, praised an off-duty fireman for his work at the scene.
Andy Purcell stabilised the Skoda driver and waited for the firefighters to reach the scene.
"He did a great job," Mr Harland said.
The junction has been a hot-spot for crashes, with residents recounting numerous incidents.
"One member of the pubic was saying its a spot for road traffic crashes," Mr Harland said.
Firefighters were on the scene until about 1am.
