WORK to improve public access to a popular nature reserve is under way after wildlife workers received a cash windfall.
The Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham has been awarded £7,000 from the People’s Postcode Lottery which will be used to carry out improvements to the area surrounding Wyming Brook river.
The three-month project will see the instillation of new waymarker posts to mark public right of way routes, two new interpretation boards, five benches and the replacement of a footbridge.
Rob Miller, Living Don manager at Sheffield’s Wildlife Trust, said “This funding has already made a significant difference to our lovely nature reserve at Wyming Brook. We’re delighted with the award and what we’ve been able to achieve with the money so far. I’m sure local people will appreciate the new benches and all the updated information that we’re going to install over the next few weeks.”
