TWENTY pensioners from Chesterfield had a visit from the police - to be given advice about crime prevention and safety issues.
PCSO Adele Chapman-Jones, who works with the Hasland and St Leonards Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, gave a presentation to the Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Pensioners’ Action Association meeting.
She gave a talk about the types of crime which can affect older communities and the work of the local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams.
PCSO Chapman-Jones said: “It was a good opportunity for us to offer prevention advice and information about crime that can particularly affect older or more vulnerable members of the community.
“I covered issues around bogus callers, distraction burglaries, purse thefts and anti-social behaviour and also spoke about the work of the local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams.
“The aim was to further improve our links with the community and the presentation seemed to be well received, and provided the group with a chance to ask questions and share their own experiences.”
