HIGH-tech pensioners living in a Doncaster sheltered housing scheme have passed their exams with flying colours.

A total of 18 pensioners at a Sanctuary Housing’s Gresley Road scheme in Balby have been taught their way around a computer after taking part in a national scheme called Get Digital.

The Get Digital programme aims to provide digital training to older people in sheltered accommodation. Those taking part in the scheme completed their course this month, and were handed certificates to mark their achievement.

Gresley Road resident John Rix said: “I have really enjoyed the classes. The teaching was at a perfect level for me to understand and I’ve learnt so much that I’ve now got a computer of my own. I would have never learnt these new skills without the classes.”

John Hanson, Sanctuary’s northern regional director, said: “Access to the internet is increasingly important and can be life-changing for people who often have limited mobility.”
