Pensioner left fighting for life following collision in South Yorkshire

A pensioner is fighting for life after he was struck by a car in South Yorkshire.

The 84-year-old man was struck at the junction of Doncaster Road and Montague Street, Mexborough, at around 12.20pm on Monday.

South Yorkshire Police said he was struck by a blue Vauxhall Vectra, which was being driven by a 72-year-old man from Denaby Main.

The pedestrian was rushed to hospital, where his condition today life-threatening.

Police said driver of the Vectra escaped unhurt.
