Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was seriously hurt when she was in collision with a car.
The incident happened at 11.15am today at a pedestrian crossing on Wickersley Road, around 50 metres east of Stag Lane, Rotherham.
The car, a silver Vauxhall Meriva, had travelled around Stag roundabout and was heading along Wickersley Road towards Rotherham when it collided with the pedestrian in the road.
The 79-year-old woman from the Herringthorpe area suffered a suspected fractured skull and cuts.
She was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital, where she has been detained.
The car driver, a 65-year-old Whiston woman, was unhurt.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the movements of the car or the pedestrian just prior to it.
