Pensioner arrested over collision with 83-year-old pedestrian

A pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and driving while unfit through drink or drugs following a collision with an 83-year-old woman.

The 68-year-old man was quizzed by police yesterday following a collision outside Clark’s Chemist, St Mary’s Road, Penistone, Barnsley.

South Yorkshire Police said a green Volkswagen Golf was involved in a collision with a pedestrian at 10.30am yesterday.

The woman is being treated in hospital for her injuries, which are not considered to be life-threatening.

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
