TWO men suffered broken bones when a car crashed into them in Sheffield.

The pedestrians were hit by a blue Vauxhall Astra on Wellington Street in the city centre, after which the occupants of the car fled the scene.

The Astra had earlier been travelling down Trafalgar Street when it failed to stop at the junction with Wellington Street, smashing into a red Volkswagen Golf.

It then continued on to the lower part of Wellington Street before spinning around and hitting the two Sheffield men.

The first, aged 20, suffered a broken leg, while the other, aged 27, sustained a fractured shoulder and facial injuries. Both were treated at the Northern General Hospital.

The driver of the Golf, a 23-year-old man, was not hurt.

Witnesses to the crash just before 1am on Saturday should call 0114 2202020.
