A pedestrian who broke nearly every bone in his body in a collision with a car in December is still receiving treatment for his injuries.

The 51-year-old spent four months in hospital after being left fighting for life after the crash on Racecommon Road, Barnsley, last December and still needs treatment to his legs, pelvis and head.

A 20-year-old man, from Townend, Barnsley, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and perverting the course of justice after the crash.

A 48-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, also from Townend, have been charged with perverting the course of justice.

All three have been granted bail and are due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on August 2.
