A man in his forties is in hospital after being struck by a car in Sheffield this morning.

At 11am today, police received reports that a white Citoren C3 had crashed on Herries Road, near Page Hall, and that a male pedestrian had been injured.

Officers closed the road at the junction with Barnsley Road and Firth Park Road until 12.30pm.

A force spokesman said the pedestrian – believed to be in his forties – has been taken to hospital but the extent of his injuries are currently unknown.

Traffic is now flowing normally.
