Pedestrian hit by car in Sheffield

A young girl has been hit by a car in Sheffield this morning.

Emergency services were called to Southey Green Road, in Southey Green shortly before 8am.

South Yorkshire Police said the accident involved a silver BMW and a pedestrian, believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

The girl suffered a broken leg and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed in both directions between Moonshine Lane and Crowder Road and reopened at 9.40am.
