Pedal power is a Turkish delight

AN INTREPID team of Sheffield cyclists have embarked on a mammoth challenge riding the width of Europe, raising £1,000 for asylum seeker charity Assist Sheffield.

Geoff Hunter, aged 27, Ali Parker and Celia Davis, both 28, and James Wiles, 31, will cover over 1,600 miles in their quest to reach the Turkish city of Istanbul and the edge of Asia by pedal power alone.

Along their three month trip they also hope to raise money for Turkish refugee charity ASAM.

Aiming to cycle 50 miles a day the team will cross 10 countries along their route, staying at campsites along the way.

“We wanted an extended trip, and instead of sitting on a beach for a couple of weeks, we wanted something a little bit more adventurous,” said Geoff. Log on to to sponsor the group.
