Peak grants for projects

THE battle against climate change has been given a boost in the Peak District with grants for environmental projects.

The Peak District Sustainable Development Fund has awarded 32,500 towards a new 'renewable energy' village hall in Over Haddon.

A grant of 25,000 has been given to a water-powered turbine which will generate energy for the Venture Centre in Cromford, and 15,000 to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust's climate challenge project which gives schools advice on energy use.

Other grants were awarded to Grindleford Allotment Association bee-keepers' project, Friends of Hartington Village Hall, Sustainable Bakewell Feasibility Study, North Sheffield Conservation Group and the Moorland Discovery Centre at Longshaw.
